The Director of Quality Assurance
Major Accountabilities:
Ø Direct activities of QA Product teams ensuring consistent practices and software deliverables that meet quality standards
Ø Hiring, training, mentoring, and motivating the QA Product
Ø Maintain relationships with strategic partners and vendors as necessary.
Ø Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
Ø Set overall QA direction and establish and implement best practices for quality assurance processes; develop and utilize benchmark-based metrics, and develop / maintain reporting on these measures to ensure continuous improvement and provide needed information to stakeholders.
Ø Collaborate with the Program Management Office and Business Groups to plan resources
Ø Manage expenses within financial budgets to include identification and implementation of cost reduction methods
Education & Required Skills:
Ø A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) required in Computer Science or related discipline
Ø 10+ years experience
Ø 10+ years industry IT experience to include experience in a quality assurance role with quality assurance processes primarily with software application life cycle development processes. Proven experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
Ø Minimum of five years in a leadership role
Ø Strong command of SQL and comprehension of relational databases, specifically Oracle 9i/10g and SQL Server 8 as well as the idiosyncrasies involved in each
Ø Understands ETL / data acquisition processes and associated testing strategies
Ø Experience with Unix environments, Data Warehouse technologies/ models and multi-platform applications
Ø
Knowledge & Skills:
Ø Proven ability to work in a matrix environment
Ø Demonstrated ability to direct activities of multiple teams
Ø Thorough Understanding of the SDLC and Agile methodologies as it applies to QA artifacts, processes and activities
Ø Proven ability to mentor teams
Ø Working knowledge of Process Improvement tools and techniques (e.g. PMIS; Pareto Charts; Lean)
Ø Knowledge of various technical Skills and tools available to include, but not limited to:
Ø Microsoft Office
Ø Experience with test automation, HP Quality Center, QTP and LoadRunner
Ø Familiarity w/Micro Strategy/BI environments
Ø Defect tracking tools (Quality Center; Jira)
Ø SQL Query tools (e.g. AQT)
Ø Ability to oversee testing of complex software applications
Ø Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include advanced interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work autonomously with very limited supervision as well as collaboratively with others.
Ø Advanced SQL/PL SQL querying skills
Ø Technical knowledge of various development platforms and technology
Ø Knowledge of the software development life cycle and QA deliverables required
Ø Familiar with QA and issue reporting
Ø Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts e.g. star schemas, hierarchies, facts etc.
