Software QA Analyst Job Description

Responsible for the definition of manual & automated test cases for one or more applications within a unit in accordance w/ the test strategy Develops manual & automated tests & scripts that contribute to comprehensive systems, systems integration &/or user acceptance level testing Monitors that the correct environments exist to execute test plans & cases in conjunction w/ the test strategy & takes necessary corrective action Executes manual & automated test cases & scripts Reports & tracks defects in a timely fashion Verifies issues raised by test teams Reviews testing deliverables Assists/supports team members in performing testing activities Contributes to development of production implementation plans Participates in production implementation "walkthroughs", providing recommendations regarding production readiness Participates in production check out activities & provides input to the go/no-go decision along w/ other stakeholder groups for complex implementations

Employee Specifications

Knowledge of Java & Rational test automation Computer programming or scripting abilities, specifically ability to create test harnesses or scripts, automation product scripts etc UNIX, LINUX or other open systems operating system knowledge & experience Competent SQL query skills & experience working with database technology Knowledge of defect tracking systems & their effective usage Demonstrated knowledge of computing & networking platforms & ability to manage testing activities across platforms Knowledge of systems design, testing & quality assurance methodologies Implementation experience with software engineering standards, metrics and quality assurance principles Quality assurance experience in a commercial software environment through all stages of product development Proven problem solving, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal & analytical skills Strong attention to detail Demonstrated ability to multi-task & manage multiple deadlines Team player
