Senior SQA Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ability to give technical presentations to internal teams. • Ability to give clear, technical presentations to customers. • Works closely with customers and understands their issues and needs. • Listens to customer needs and is able to turn these into requirements that are added to the product • Works closely with other functions in the organization to create solutions that can be used by multiple groups. • Ability to lead a group of engineers through design and code inspections that are efficient and useful. • Ability to troubleshoot performance, scalability and stability issues throughout our products and propose solutions. • Ability to debug very complicated problems with pointers, deadlocks and state based memory or other resource leaks. Demonstration of skill at this level will be problem identification and solving across modules or components or across tiers. This can extend to areas involving ring transitions, driver interaction and reading crash dumps. • Actively proposes designs that support testability. • Develops and executes initiatives designed to increase the domain expertise and solution efficiency of the SQA Engineering group as a whole. • Performs all tasks in the capacity of a team leader of a group of SQA Engineers, working on more than one project simultaneously. This is the role of a Technical Lead," where they would have overall control and decision making authority on technical matters. • Trains lower level SQA Engineers in all the tasks and capabilities needed for their position. • Able to mentor a variety of QA Engineers across teams. • Demonstrates the ability to contribute to product planning, as it relates to the development of quality standards and testing methods. • Demonstrates the ability to contribute to product planning, as it relates to testability and compliance with common criteria or other similar standards. • Works with the SQA Sr. Manager/Director to develop testing approaches that maximize the efficiency of the SQA Engineering effort of the department. • Works with development to come up with project metrics to help determine project inefficiencies. With this knowledge, can take proactive steps to make the project more efficient. This includes productivity, trend and predictive metrics. • Performs research on new technologies and tools offered in the market place. • Develops and executes initiatives designed to increase the domain expertise and solution efficiency of the SQA Engineering group as a whole. • Contributes to the overall success of the product, the Core team/focus team and may work directly with large customers. • Contributes to the development and best practices of SQA across many groups.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years SQA experience. • Must be a team player with can-do" attitude. • Strong Windows and Unix background in regards to System and application level testing in an enterprise software environment. • Expert troubleshooting and reasoning skills, Proficiency with SQA concepts, methods & experience in creating test plans, reviewing test cases, driving test team, resolving customer issues etc. • Strong experience with MS SQL Server. • Altiris experience strongly preferred.
