Quality Software Engineer

The Quality Software Engineer will be responsible for developing in-house tools and technical solutions that will support the Quality and Release Management teams within the Quality department. Additionally, the Quality Software Engineer will develop automated test cases using HP's QuickTest Professional, contribute towards the enhancement of an existing automation framework, and occasionally assist with manual regression testing and/or troubleshooting of issues reported by end users.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

* Develop, document and maintain in-house tools that will be used by the Quality Team for testing purposes using a leading programming language such as Visual Basic, Java, Ruby, etc. (Ruby Preferred). * Perform hands-on training sessions for newly developed tools. * Understand the current infrastructure and provide suggestions to areas that can be automated via new tool development. * Develop and maintain automated test cases via HP's QuickTest Professional (QTP) for external and internal web-based applications. * Participate in peer code reviews (QTP scripts). * Occasionally execute manual test cases. * Report issues/bugs encountered in a detailed and orderly manner. * Routinely review bug tracking logs to identify patterns. * Generate test execution reports for management. * Perform analysis on the list of automation tasks and intelligently prioritize them based on importance and criticality. * Identify, propose, and implement QA planning, quality metrics, and process improvements to increase defect prevention, component-development efficiency, and customer-perceived quality, while lowering costs.

Requirements:

* Minimum of 3 years experience in tools development using Java, VB or Ruby is required. * Minimum of 3 years Automation Software Quality Assurance experience is required. * Intermediate experience in Linux and SQL Queries (Oracle) required. * Intermediate scripting experience using QTP or other VB based automation tools is required. * Exposure to HP's Test Director / Quality Center is a plus. * Working knowledge of SQA methodologies and exposure to development and execution of comprehensive test suites. * Ability to represent the QA Automation/Engineering team on daily stand-up meetings and project planning. * Experience and willingness to execute manual testing on an occasional basis is required. * Working knowledge of a standard defect lifecycle and a bug tracking system required. (JIRA knowledge is a plus) * Intermediate level of experience using Windows operating systems plus basic competency in the use of Macintosh computers. * Web-based testing experience is preferred.
