Quality Assurance Analyst

The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance Analyst (QA Analyst) is to conduct activities necessary to test the company's proprietary software and hardware products adequately prior to release to customers. The QA Analyst must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly, possess an understanding of QA process and practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop and maintain test data (evidence files, test matrices etc.) as necessary to support testing efforts. Develop and maintain test environments to support testing efforts. Develop, execute and maintain suites of product specific test cases and test scripts in collaboration with the QA automation team. Participate in the development of test planning documentation and the estimation of testing efforts for product releases. Review requirements, specifications and other documentation and perform functional analysis of applications and new application features. Raise issues, questions, and concerns as appropriate. Conduct testing to validate and verify that functionality, usability, reliability and performance are consistent with specifications or established acceptance criteria. Report discrepancies or defects and follow through to ensure that all issues are resolved. Assist development team in troubleshooting and determining root-cause of application defects and issues. Communicate test results and project status to Sr. QA Analysts and QA Management. Participate in the creation of release risk assessments and release certification documentation for review by R&D Management. Work closely with other departments (Program Management, Development, Research, Technical Services, Documentation, Production etc). ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: BS Degree in Computer Science preferred 2+ years experience of software testing experience. Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Strong analytical problem-solving skills. Must be capable of breaking down complex situations to discover and resolve root causes. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management and follow-up skills. Active participation in cross-functional product groups Experience in functional black-box testing and acceptance testing. Experience with a software bug tracking and test management tool. Strong knowledge of PC hardware and Microsoft (Windows 9X, ME, NT4/2000, XP and Vista) and Unix (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HPUX) operating systems. Solid understanding and working knowledge of networking concepts. Experience in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.

DESIRED SKILLS: Understanding of software development methodology, process and procedures. Understanding of computer forensic methodologies. Experience in system administration, information security and/or network security Experience with VMWare/Virtual PC or other virtualization packages Experience with IBM Requisite Pro, ClearCase and ClearQuest. Experience in load/stress/performance testing. Strong knowledge of operating system internals especially file-systems such as FAT32, NTFS, EXT2/3 etc.
