Software Test Automation Engineer
Responsibilities include several of the following, but are not limited to:
1. Work closely with development and marketing on reviewing and understanding functional test requirements. Participate in software requirements and design reviews.
2. Design and develop automated test plans and specify test cases to be implemented in a shared test library. Recommend appropriate testing approach for developing and running tests, data acquisition and reporting results.
3. Execute automated and manual tests, monitor test results and investigate failures results. Assess and report severity and priority of problems found during testing cycles, by considering all angles of the problem space: customer perception, functionality, usability, performance, etc.
4. Perform hands-on testing for complex features and reproduction of critical situations
5. Generate and verify software change requests.
6. Configure hardware and software for automated and manual testing.
7. Support an assessment of readiness for formal rest
8. Support regression test development
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with formal V&V
2. Suggest process improvements for the Verification and Validation processes.
3. Follow all company safety policies and procedures while ensuring quality work.
4. Handle changing priorities and other duties as required.
SCOPE OF WORK
1. Operates within standard software development and corporate guidelines. Must engage in some independent decision-making.
2. Responsible for their own work products.
3. Coordinate cross-functional activities especially including SQA and SW Developers.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in computer science or related engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
2. 5+ years software automation test experience.
3. Thorough understanding of software development processes, testing issues, tools, and techniques.
4. Develop and maintained automation scripts, using internal and/or third party tools such as Mercury Quick Test Professional.
5. Performed fault insertion testing.
6. Experience with a numerical programming language such as MATLAB to generate test data sets.
7. Experience with scripting language.
8. Ability to read and understand C# code.
9. Good working knowledge of XP and .NET configuration, operation and components.
10. Software test experience at the white box and black box level.
11. Experience generating and verifying SW problem reports.
12. Highly Desirable Experience in:
13. Experience with Mercury Quality Center and Quick Test Professional
14. Experience developing in VBScript and C#
15. Experience with Matlab
