Internet Test Specialist

Responsibilities • Perform testing activities to include development of test plans, scripts and cases and report status back to QA & Development leaders, project management and other designated stakeholders. The specialist will report to a QA Team Lead or higher Manager and is expected to lead other QA Analysts directly or indirectly. • Define automated testing strategies and test cases. Must have in-depth experience using Mercury’s TestDirector (Quality Center) to maintain test scripts, match test scripts to requirements, setup pre-scheduled execution of automated, data-driven test sets/scenarios, collect test results and produce metrics and risk analysis reports. Test Cases must thoroughly exercise application behavior from many different perspectives and must effectively identify product faults and failures, departures from product specifications as well as errors in business logic. • On a daily basis must be able to design and write automation test scripts. An advanced understanding of automated test techniques and tools is required. Specialists must possess the ability to design and write reusable test components and architect an entire testing framework to be reused across the testing team. Various testing tools will be used to develop the automated test framework. • SQL knowledge is required to be able to extract datasets from Oracle tables. Must be able to describe and request mainframe test accounts/user-ids for testing. • Perform browser based testing to prove that the application functions properly in all supported browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, Firefox, Safari) and for all appropriate use cases(forward, back, refresh, multiple browser settings, etc.). Specialists must possess a deep understanding of browser based technologies and protocols. • Perform functional testing to identify defects in business logic and product functionality. • Perform daily regression testing for assigned functional area of ownership through the use of automation. • During the project lifecycle, closely collaborate with product management, technology and professional services to gain a firm understanding of the products to be tested, to solidify test plans and scripts and to proactively advise the project team on discovered issues that need to be addressed throughout the project lifecycle. Application Defects should be recorded with an appropriate amount of detail, all can clearly understand. • Testing work should be performed in a detailed, thorough and timely manner and should define internal standards. • Provide proactive, reliable communication to management for all assigned projects. • Provide the same level of communication for all non-project related tasks and issues including feedback on peers. • Maintain Subject Matter Expertise for assigned functional area of ownership and for others assigned functionality in a backup capacity. • Find simple and innovative ways to improve personal productivity. • Mentor/Coach newer team members. Train them on common techniques and tools used regularly in testing. Provide training for area of functional ownership. • Observe other team members and find ways to improve their productivity.

Skills/Attributes • Proficiency in Internet/SOFTWARE testing processes and techniques • Adaptable to work efficiently in an extremely fast paced environment • Broad Functional, GUI, Regression, Integration and Automated testing experience • Advanced understanding of browsers and web protocols (http/https, HTML, SMTP, POP, etc.) • Experience testing common multi-tier, server based applications • Automated testing tool programming not record-playback experience • High technical competency and development minded • Test planning and strategy • Web and server-based test automation • Advanced analytical skills • Oral and written communication skills • Mentoring and development skills • Test methodology definition and measurement • Detail and process-oriented • Ability to assemble and condition test data (preferably within a mainframe system, such as TS2) • Proficiency with SQL and relational database techniques (select and nested select statements)

Education and Experience • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or engineering plus six years testing automation experience or eight years testing automation experience • 3 years object oriented and web-based application testing or development experience • TSYS experience preferred
