Software QA Engineer
Primary Responsibilities:
• Testing software and writing defect reports;
• Ensuring that software implements the functionality specified in all approved requirements documents and that it performs as expected from the customer's perspective;
• Communicating with manager on workload progress and working with the manager to ensure all assigned tasks are scheduled and completed within a reasonable, agreed upon time frame;
• Ensure all deliverables are of a high quality and reviewed for decisions on automation and implementation of automated testing where appropriate;
• Develop and implement QA processes, test plans, test cases, tools and infrastructure where applicable, to improve quality and efficiency;
• Perform and participate in all aspects of verification, including requirements testing, feature & functional testing, unit testing, regression, load and performance testing;
• Create and execute detailed QA test plans, manage bug tracking, and provide informative updates as requested.
Qualifications:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills - must be able to communicate on a cross functional team;
• Software testing fundamentals including the concepts of both positive and negative testing;
• Understanding of Object oriented programming concepts;
• Understanding of software testing processes and standards and the tools needed to carry out assigned tasks (e.g. MS Project, Defect Tracking);
• High-level understanding of the perspectives and needs of the customers for supported products;
• Thorough understanding of how to use the products they are responsible for testing as part of a cross functional product team;
• Strong SQL and relational database skills;
• Experience in Automation test tools (e.g. WinRunner, Silk, etc.);
• Hands-on experience writing test plans, using automated testing tools, and applying structured testing methodologies.
