Senior SQA Engineer
Sr. SQA Engineer
Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, lead software quality activities to ensure release readiness for customer and quality expectations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Work directly with software developers to ensure requirement implementation/verification correctness and to review test case coverage.
Work directly with other engineering and scientific disciplines to enhance overall product development.
Write software defect reports. Identify and record the exact sequence of activities that were performed to produce software malfunctions.
Investigate software defects and problem reports to provide additional information in the report to aid defect fixing.
Review defect reports submitted into the defect tracking database for validity and help disposition them.
Review requirement specifications (system, software functional) for correctness against test design and test cases.
Participate in the creation/maintenance of the document structure of requirements (system, software functional) for testability and traceability.
Ensure traceability of each requirement to software test cases and test designs.
Submit change requests against the software when requirements are incorrect.
Maintain test environment, which includes needed supplies and necessary maintenance/housekeeping.
Follow project and corporate software plans, standards, and procedures to perform software verification.
Ensure verification documentation complies with all regulations.
Participate in review of customer complaints or field service assistance to provide technical assistance to complaint analysts as needed. Ensure items are captured in project defect tracking mechanisms. Complete documentation for Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system as required.
Management Track
Creation / maintenance of project planning and scheduling for software verification for a sub-system or entire project.
Coordination and supervision of assigned SQA engineer resources (if available)
Create an environment to enhance communications with all project team members and customers.
Technical Track
Must have the ability to handle (create, revise, execute) many test plans and test cases (automated, white box, and/or black box) and take ownership for a large percentage of the overall verification.
Must have the ability to take ownership for high complexity verification activities and have a broad knowledge of the entire product.
Perform unit testing and/or integration testing to ensure validity of the automated / white box test code.
Evaluate, investigate, and implement fixes to defects in automated / white box test code
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Bachelors degree plus at least 8 years of related experience or Masters Degree plus at least 6 years of related experience or waiver based on experience. Degree should be in a technical discipline such as Chemistry, Math, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science
Requires knowledge of software engineering practice and software testing methodologies
Must demonstrate proficiency with a personal computer and software packages
Must be able to operate instrumentation
Must possess strong written and oral communications skills
Must have the ability to administer software engineering tools; configuration management, requirements management, and defect management
Ability to work in conjunction with other software QA engineers and development engineers
Ability to work in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and scientists
Ability to develop automated tests
Ability to train others in the use of software packages and tools needed for verification and/or documentation is required
