Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Essential Functions (Responsibilities): * Responsible for contributing to product quality of a major engineering initiative (including, but not limited to software quality, project documentation, end-user documentation, and oversight of hardware, firmware, and electrical testing). * Works in a team environment and directs the daily activities of team members. * Drives quality into every aspect of the development/test process (including uncovering design artifacts, change management). * Works with our products that are used by hundreds of thousands of customers every day and have high visibility both nationally and internationally. * Validates requirements, design, development, and the release of software to our production datacenters. * Evaluates requirements for testability, reviews system designs, develops a quality plan, creates test plans, executes thorough tests, selects and or develops testing tools, and writes test cases/scripts to ensure a high-quality customer experience.

Qualifications/Requirements: * Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field * Must have a minimum of six (6) years experience in software quality engineering * Demonstrated experience with Windows and (*)nix operating systems * Excellent problem solving skills * Very good written and verbal communication skills.

Desired: * Experience testing web based (HTTP, HTTPS, HTML, SOAP, XML), client/server, mobile computing, and networking (TCP/IP) software. * Ability to read/review, write, and C# and Java code. * Strong background in database operation/management and solid knowledge of database structures. * Experience with Mercury (HPQC) requirement control, test, and defect management tools (i.e. Quicktest Pro, TestDirector, LoadRunner). * Solid understanding of Windows & (*)nix operating systems & associated IDEs. * General system-level component and configuration knowledge. * Direct experience with automated test generation. * Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python and Perl. * Understanding of embedded SDK/API devices interfaces. * Familiarity with code coverage tools * Prefer experience with video, security camera, data storage, and surveillance applications and testing.
