QA Software Engineer II
As Software QA Engineer, this position is primarily responsible for performing qualification (quality assurance) of products during the product development and post development phases. This includes developing test plans, test procedures (including automatic test scripts), setup of equipment, the execution of tests and the logging and tracking of the test results and design defects. Provides second tier technical support to the Technical Services Department or end users. Conducts reviews through the various development phases to monitor the process for deviations from the design and customer requirements documents. Mentors and trains junior and intermediate level Integration & Test Engineers.
Specifically this position performs the following duties:

Lab Duties
* Assists in developing and maintaining current test plans and develops the test procedures that will be used to qualify the product.
* Develops test scripts to automate testing of products using a variety of automation tools.
* Assists in creating and setup of test equipment and the preparation of the equipment to be tested.
* Assists in all aspects of lab set up including physical network, operating system installation, hardware and software installation and troubleshooting.

Experience installing operating systems on server and workstation platforms in a Microsoft environment.
*
Internal Qualification
*
Conducts acceptance rests that include testing of features as well as reliability and performance testing.
*
Performs a review of user, installation and maintenance documentation.
*
Documents test results, maintains current log of product non-conformance items and corrective actions.
*
Reports findings to Development Department(s).
*
Metrics Reporting
*
Assists in collection and analysis of quality data throughout the development process.
*
Assists in defining, calculating and reporting product quality metrics to the R&D Department and others within the company.
*
External Qualification
*
Assists in the installation and setup of the products for beta trials.
*
Assists in the monitoring of the progress of the beta trials.
*
Standards, Benchmarks and Certifications
*
Ensures that products meet expected industry standards and regulations.
*
Customer Service Assistance
*
Assists in providing second tier technical support to the Technical Support Department or end users.
*
Travels occasionally to customer sites to diagnose problems.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
*
BSEE or BSCS or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*
Very good communication skills, both verbal and written.
*
Knowledge of database design and access mechanisms, such as ODBC.
*
Very good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team as well as independently.
*
Knowledge of principles, theory and best practices for evaluation, testing and quality assurance of hardware and software products.
*
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
*
Ability to travel on occasion.
*
Ability to work the required hours of the position and work well and productively with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
*
Candidates with 4+ years of experience installing, testing and verification of MS Windows based software will be given first consideration.
