Software Test Engineer
Responsibilities:
1. Testing - Performs thorough testing with limited knowledge of the feature, functionality, or behavior while being developed. Applies different test techniques to find new defects. Works closely with developers to test pre-alpha code, as well as technical support and system setup. Reports issues using manual and automated testing techniques found during test cycles in internal or external bug tracking tools, to provide accurate descriptions of problems found during test. Compiles and communicates upcoming tests, current test progress, roadblocks during test, estimated planned completion, and presents final test reports.
2. Test planning - Involved in the creation of test strategies, test procedures, test cases, and identifying development/test/production environments (and associated assets). Identify complex test configurations that might not be covered under normal circumstances as well as boundary conditions, failure points, destructive scenarios, etc. Recommend and coordinate the above to manage the needs of specialized test requests.
3. Continuous Improvement - Domain knowledge of new features and products/services. Be proactive in understanding product/service roadmaps and the implications of new features with peers or self-training. Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences including, but not limited to, test management, software development, and executives. Evaluate, recommend, and institutionalize improvements to integration test processes, work products/services, and results. Provides test support and mentoring to other members outside of the team.
Qualification/Skills (Know of the Job)Basic Requirements:
BS Degree in CS or related field and 5-8 years of Software Test or Software Quality Assurance experience, or MS degree with 2-4 years of Software Test or Software Quality Assurance,
5 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
3 years of demonstrated experience in problem solving; root cause analysis; and data gathering, analysis, and reporting within a systems/software quality assurance discipline
