Software Test and Quality Assurance Engineer
Responsibilities
Lead and/or participate in system design, quality, and test and or Track readiness reviews
Work with SW lead in defining and design of SW requirements, testing and expected outcomes to ensure testable requirements and meets the SW quality expectations
Determine, in collaboration with the team, the tests that can be done in the lab to validate SW functionalities and what needs to be done in the field (Quincy or other sites as appropriate)
Prepare SW test plans for in-lab testing as well as field testing with the expected outcomes.
Develop test strategies, test plans, and test procedures for existing and yet-to-be released products
Help individual engineering disciplines structure their testing activities with an eye to effectively using resources and facilities, as they are available.
Actively support or lead internal/external integration, test, deployment, delivery, and track and or test readiness gate reviews and track test events
Collect and analyze test data and compile detailed test reports in a timely manner to meet program or customers deliverables
Draft operational manuals and technical instructions for end users
Support travel to local and occasionally out of state test efforts
Participate in design reviews as a measurement methodologies expert
Work with supply chain/suppliers to understand component manufacturing and quality/capacity improvements
Lead Engineering in an appropriate manner to develop a strong strategic supply base
Requirements
MS or BS in EE, CSE, CS, or Physics
3-5 years’ experience in software testing
Experience with some automated test tools. e.g. selenium
Familiarity with writing test plans from predefined requirements and contributing to requirement definition to ensure testable requirements.
Experience working in a Linux environment
Familiar with agile development and related management tools such as Jira
You are passionate about testing, quality assurance, technology and automation
You are methodical, detail oriented, well organized and effective at time management
Demonstrated experience working with a small team in the execution of an operational test using a mobile vehicle or other hardware system (e.g. able to communicate via radio, coordinate safety briefings, operating industrial equipment safely).
Strong data analysis experience with the ability to use off the shelf tools: matlab, excel, etc. or custom data reduction tools / scripts to bring test data to stakeholders in a reliable and meaningful manner quickly.
Experience with object oriented program to include Python, JavaScript, C++ is a plus
Prior experience testing to industry standards such as CA, EN, ANSI, UL, is a plus.
