Manual Test Engineer

Description The Manual Test Engineer is responsible for the accurate testing and evaluation of software programs against design specifications, user requirements, user stories, use cases, and/or other authoritative sources to ensure the highest quality of Gateway Ticketing Systems software. The Tester is responsible for logging deviations from the requirements and for the tracking and retesting of those defects.

Key Responsibilities

Reproduce issues in the Reported In version as well as the latest development version of the software, as reported by internal partners. Create test cases in the Test Management System for reproduced issues, and subsequent testing/verification of issue fixes, as required. Executing Manual Tests, analyzing results, and verifying fixes of Gateway’s software products with minimal or no supervision. Executing QFE (Quick Fix Emergencies), maintenance release, major release and project tests and analyzing results. Logging all issues, to include progress and time spent in the issue tracking system (GTSWin) and communicating results to the project team. Creating comprehensive Test Plans and Test Cases in the Test Management System and other documentation as derived from one or more authoritative sources with minimal or no supervision. Assist in the creation of, and documenting of “Unit Tests” in the Test Management System. Creating and documenting “Out of Scope” Test Cases in the Test Management System. Creating and documenting of detailed “Configuration” information in the Test Management System. Maintaining Quality Assurance documentation (i.e. Test Plans, Test Cases, GTSWin issues etc. and other QA processes and procedures) in the Test Management System. Reviewing and providing feedback on online help and user documentation. Assisting in training of new employees in the Quality Assurance department. Training includes testing procedures, testing tools, reporting procedures, and Gateway Ticketing software. Assisting in the estimation of effort, and time, for testing and other QA activities. Reviewing and assisting in “Unit Test Case” development and documentation. Reviewing and evaluating tools for the Quality Assurance department. Attend and participate in all Project Meetings Attend and participate in all Department Meetings Attending required Training as necessary.

Requirements

Deep experience with manual testing. 5+ years of experience as a Software Manual Test Engineer/Developer or related field. Experience in software testing including test planning, test execution and software deployment. Experience using software to create, manage, and execute tests. Knowledge of SQL Understanding of Test Automation a plus Ability to work with customers, project managers, developers and internal business analysts.
