When to enable extensions
If you plan to use extensions for testing in specific environments, you must
tell SilkTest which extensions must be loaded for each application under
test--regardless of whether the application will run locally or on remote
machines. You do this by making sure extensions are enabled on your host
machine and on each target machine before you record or run tests.
Once extensions are enabled for applications under test, SilkTest can send
each Agent the list of extensions to be loaded. Then, the Agent dynamically
loads the appropriate extensions for testing each application.
When to enable extensions
Before you can begin testing, you must enable extensions for applications
you plan to test on both the target machine and the host machine.
On the target machine
On each target machine, we recommend that you enable the extensions that
meet the requirements of all applications you ever intend to test on that
machine, in current and future test sessions.
Extensions enabled by
default
By default, the installation program enables the following extensions on the
target machine:
·
Extensions that come with SilkTest:
-
All supported Web browser extensions
-
Java extension
·
Extensions for the development environments you explicitly install.
These extensions are enabled for applications that you invoke in the
extension's standard runtime environments. For example, if you install
all development environments with SilkTest, the installation program
automatically enables the following extensions:
-
Developer/2000 extension, for testing applications that are invoked
using Oracle Developer/2000
-
Blue Express extension, for testing AS/400 and mainframe
applications that are invoked using the Blue Express runtime
environment
-
Forté extension, for testing Forté applications that are invoked using
the Forté runtime environment
