Converting the data in a results file into a plan
QA Organizer provides a convenient way to convert a results file into a
testplan. This is useful when converting old suite-based tests into testplans.
Procedure To convert a results file to a testplan:
1
Open a results file that was generated by SilkTest, not one generated by
QA Organizer from a testplan. For example:
2
Select Results/Convert to Plan.
QA Organizer displays the Convert Results to Plan dialog.
3
Select the results file you want to convert (typically the most recent) and
click OK.
QA Organizer converts the results file to a testplan.
Because the results file was for a script, not a testplan, there are no group
or testcase descriptions in the testplan, only test data. Therefore,
QA Organizer uses the # symbol so that when this testplan is run, the
testdata statement will double as description. The # symbol can be used
with any QA Organizer statement so that the statement will double as
description. For more information on the syntax of QA Organizer
statements, see Appendix A, "QA Organizer Keywords".
